Simply improve ocean health right at home by eliminating plastic bags

The Aquidneck Island Trash Skimmers, made possible by funding from 11th Hour Racing, have removed 543 single-use plastic bags from the ocean since June 2017. Based on this data, we can speculate that the average family accumulates 60 plastic bags per month, from just four trips to the grocery store! One simple way to eliminate plastic bags from the marine environment is to stop using them, and bring your own bag. You can bring your bags to the grocery store, when ordering take-out, and even those quick trips to convenience stores. Plan by storing a couple of reusable bags in your glove compartment or in the trunk of your car so you will never leave home without them!
