Our actions on land matter.

Did you know that Americans throw away 200 million pounds of turkey (NRDC) on Thanksgiving- and 40 million tons (EPA) of food annually?

With only 326 towns and cities out of more than 19,000 (USPRIG) in the US offering curbside food waste collection, it’s clear that most food waste in America is heading straight to the landfill.

But imagine if things were different? What if our food waste could give back to soil and sea?

The Healthy Soils Healthy Seas Rhode Island project aims to do just that, and we are thrilled that nearly 400 households, and 25 restaurants have diverted over 250 tons of food scraps from the landfill.

As families start to gather for this treasured Holiday, help us bring up the conversation about composting to the table.

This holiday season, we are offering a one-time opportunity to sign up for residential composting with the Give the Gift of Composting for the 2019 Holiday season.

This gift lasts for an entire year, makes an impact every day, supports the local economy, and our local environment.
