The Aquidneck Land Trust, Clean Ocean Access and the Green Infrastructure Coalition have partnered together to host a free rain barrel give-away festival on Saturday, April 28th at First Beach in Newport from 9am - noon to coincide with Earth Month. The festival will include rain barrel decorating, rain barrel installation demonstrations, stormwater education and family-friendly beach games. At the end of the event, participants will take home their own rain barrel to install at their property. Rain barrels are the ultimate do-it-yourself community infrastructure and are useful for building community and fostering community stewardship ethic with regard to watershed conservation in a number of ways.
