Last week we expanded our water quality program to find the bacteria sources that are leading to beach closures at Easton’s Beach. Initial testing shows that elevated bacteria levels do exist in the Moat surrounding the pond, whether it is coming from dog waste, geese, illegal connections, sediment or another source is yet to be determined. Every Thursday we collect 15 samples on Aquidneck Island as part of our efforts for permanent year-round clean water. Working with you, the city, town, state and EPA we will figure this out. A healthy environment is very important to our local economy. Always consider supporting COA (with your time, treasure or talent) so that our lean organization can continue to lead and manage all our programs on our precious island. Thank you!
